JoAnn Brinkerhoff Prue
1935 - 2014

Early Life: JoAnn was born on May 28, 1935, in Bicknell, Utah, to Edwin Cutler Brinkerhoff and Nellie Hamlin Murray Brinkerhoff (later Taylor). She was raised on a dairy farm in Loa, Utah, and attended college at Utah State University.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1954, JoAnn married Merrill W. Packer in the Logan Utah Temple; they raised four children before their divorce. She married William "Bill" Prue on December 17, 1988, in the Salt Lake Temple; they were happily married for 26 years in Orem, Utah. After raising her family, JoAnn went back to school and received a degree in History from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, and a Nursing degree from the University of Kentucky. After moving back to Utah, she worked as a psychiatric nurse, providing loving care to many hundreds of troubled adolescents for nearly 30 years. JoAnn was always an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving diligently in every calling she ever received in the various wards and stakes where they lived in Utah, Minnesota, Canada, Kentucky and Virginia. She served for several years as a stake Relief Society President, and at the time of her death, she was an ordinance worker in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple. JoAnn will be remembered for her ever present smile and unfailing optimism, even in the face of a multitude of challenges. She had many friends and always thought of everyone but herself. She had a way of cheering everyone up when she walked into the room, and her sense of humor lifted all. When her oldest grandchild recently asked her how she has kept a positive outlook all these years, she said, "Most of all, my eternal perspective of life got me through each day." She lived her life by the motto, "Live simply, give more, expect less." JoAnn Brinkerhoff Prue passed away peacefully on September 22, 2014, after complications with a heart condition. She was 79 years old.
Survived By: Her husband, Bill; her four children: Annette (Jamie) Dester, Cindy Lou (Merrill) Kingston, Scott M. (Donna) Packer and David W. (Brenda) Packer; 14 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
