Born May 31, 1914, in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Ralph I. and Sophia Crist Farner.
He was a graduate of Chambersburg High School, class of 1932.
In Chambersburg, he had been a Borough Council member, fire marshal and burgess.
He was a retired plant superintendent for Puritan Sportswear in North Carolina. While living in Chambersburg, he was employed by the former Interwoven Stocking Co.
A former member of King Street United Brethren Church, he was a life member of Franklin Fire Company No. 4, a member of the Fireman's Relief Association, and a 50 year and honorary life member and past exalted ruler of BPOElks Lodge 600.
His first wife, Minerva Claudy Farner, died July 1, 1968.
Surviving are his wife, Sallie W. Morgan Farner of Pinetops; a daughter, Margaret P. Cramer of Chambersburg; three sons, Cleaver L. Pierce and Theodore L., both of Chambersburg, and Ronald Lee of Catasauqa, 10 grandchildren; our great-grandchildren; and a sister, Isabel Shoemaker of Chambersburg.
