James Duane Ramer
The body of a 20-year-old Kiskl Valley native who drowned while swimming in the Niagara river on Saturday July 22, 1956 was returned to Avonmore for burial.
James Duane Ramer, a resident of Buffalo, NY, lost his life while swimming with a companion to that town on Saturday. He was born in Shelocta on January 26, 1938 a son of Blair H. and Twila Berkey Ramer, Avonmore R D 1.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Blair H. Ramer, Avonmore R D l, four brothers, Ronald, Buffalo, Clair William and Arthur, at home, seven sisters, Mrs. Doris Gresko, Buffalo, Mrs. Joseph Eshbach, Camden, Del., Eva Mae, Patricia, Connie Lou, Ruth and Diane at home.
Friends were received at the Yockey funeral home, Avonmore where services were held at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon with the Rev. William J. Spears, Maysville Church of God in charge Burial was at Elderton cemetery.
