John Franklin Perkins

John Franklin Perkins, 74, 4900 Huntoon, died Monday, Feb. 2, at his home.

Mr. Perkins farmed near Plevna until he retired and moved to Topeka.

He was born Feb. 17, 1912, at Ava, Mo., the eighth of nine children born to Jesse Franklin and Jessie Grace Scott Perkins.

Mr. Perkins attended West Side Christian Church Senior Citizen center many years.

His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth LaClair Perkins, survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Ann Dunham, Mineral Wells, Texas; a son, James R. Perkins, Topeka; a stepson, James LaClair, Hutchinson; five sisters, Mrs. Edith Thompson, Lost Springs; Mrs. Nelli Thompson, Augusta; Mrs. Martha Roby, El Dorado; Mrs. Bessie Shattel, Wichita; and Mrs. Eliza Moore, Henrietta, Okla.; a brother, Timothy Perkins, Vancouver, Wash.; a half-brother, James Henry Applegate, Old Field, Mo.; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Perkins will lie in state after 11 a.m. today at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 5375 S.W.7th, Topeka 66606.
