Etta May Ethredge was born April 8, 1881, in Schell City, MO. When she was about 6 years old, she made the migration to Oregon along with the other Ethredge extended family members. By June 1897, however, the family was back in Missouri, now living in Taberville. Just prior to 1900, Etta's family moved again, this time to Washington state.

Etta and John moved to California about 1936, per his obituary, and to Atascadero, California about 1941. John died in February 1943. At some point afterwards, Etta remarried to John Robert Hegstrom, who died in February 1958. Etta, herself, died in February 1965 in Atascadero, CA.

Rosary Tonight For Etta Hegstrom
Rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. this evening in the Chapel of the Roses for Mrs. Etta May Hegstrom, 83, who died Monday in an Atascadero hospital.
Requiem Mass will be said Friday morning at 10 o'clock in St. William's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery in San Luis Obispo.
A long time resident of the area, Mrs. Hegstrom was a member of St. William's Altar Society, Atascadero Grandmothers Club, and the Atascadero Grange. She was born in Missouri April 8, 1881 and moved to this area in 1939.
Mrs. Hegstrom is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Raneta Drake of Santa Margarita; a son, Raymond Morgan(sic) of Princeton, Ida.; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Davis of Otis Orchard, Wash.; a brother, Harley Ethridge of Spokane, Wash.; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

Note: Etta May's son, Raymond, is incorrectly referred to as Raymond Morgan, instead of Dorgan.
