He was father to Brigadier General George Leonard Andrews of Civil War and West Point Fame. General Andrews was head professor of languages (specializing in French) during his time post The Civil War at West Point.

His mother and father (Zephaniah and Hezibah - Luscomb - Andrews) are buried in Livermore, Maine.
