Mack was born on Wednesday, November 14, 1928 in Gilbert, LA to the union of Charlie E. Walker and Emmett Edwards Walker and passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Jonesville, LA.
Bro. Mack was a Pastor and Evangelist for 57 years, conducting hundreds of revivals, baptisms, weddings, funerals and ordinations. He was a mentor and pastor to many. Some say he was a pastor's pastor.
While working as the resident mortician in the late 50's and early 60's, at Young's Funeral Home in Jonesville, he answered the call to enter the ministry and accepted his first church at Acme, followed by Dunbarton, Turkey Creek, Sycamore (24 years) , Evangeline (Interim), Pritchard, Mt. Nebo, and finally Larto Baptist Church (for the past 22 years), where he continued preaching until recently. He also served as Evangelism director for Ouachita Baptist Association since 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Emmett Walker; infant daughter, Sheila Maxine Walker; five brothers, Larry, Willie, Charlie F. , Genie and Dudley Walker and sister, Bonnie Collins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ezetta Bordelon Walker of Jonesville, LA; three daughters, Barbara Hammett and her husband Butch of Vidalia, LA, Sherrie Huffman and her husband Karry of Vidalia, LA and Cindi Randall and her husband Greg of Vidalia, LA; brother, E.W. Walker and his wife Carma of Jonesville, LA; sister, Venie Emfinger of Ferriday, LA; six grandchildren, Rhiannon Money and husband John, Rani Hammett, Kyle Randall and his wife Kristin, Shonda Brewer and her husband Carl, Kassi Brixey and her husband John and Jordie Mac Huffman; and six great-grandchildren, Aubree Money, Aaden Money, Aidan Huffman, Baylee Brewer, Layton Daye and Grace Montpelier.
Bro. Mack proudly served his Country in the United States Army in 1951-52 in Germany where he managed to find a baseball team that provided him and others with many hours of entertaining competition. Many will remember his zeal and athletic abilities while playing semi-pro baseball in the 1940's. His love for sports and hunting, especially ducks, was exceeded only by his love and passion for preaching God's word, leading people to Christ, and talking about his loving family, especially his grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Randall, Jordie Huffman, Acie White, Lloyd Breithaupt, Jamie Cader and Jeff Wiley
In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the American Cancer Society.
