On August 19, 1939, Marjorie was united in marriage to Leroy Whelen. To this union two sons were born. Leroy preceded her in death and she later married Walter Schwandt on August 19, 1967 who also preceded her in death. In addition, preceding her in death were her parents, eldest son, Steven Lee Whelen, brother, Albert C. Hanna and sister, Josephine Davison.
Marjorie enjoyed life and so many aspects of it. In her youth she enjoyed traveling, shopping (of course), fishing, and bowling. After relocating back to Ellington, Missouri from Fresno, California, approximately 1984 she took great delight in singing with her sister Ruth and niece, Diane at church functions and the Brent B. Tinnin Manor.
She enjoyed collecting statues of humming birds and deer. She also loved the people of Ellington and delighted in the making of cookies that she would share with the Black River Electric, volunteers at the voting polls, fire department, church functions and anyone she felt would make them happy. Because of this action, she was commonly known as the "Cookie Lady" of Ellington.
Marjorie was loved greatly and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We loved you, and still do, more than you will ever know.
