James Gilbert Vaughn, 91, of Union City died March 28, 2007, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with Dr. David Russell and the Revs. Jerry Leggett and Jimmy Calhoun officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. Friends may call at White-Ranson Funeral Home 11 am.-1 p.m. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Marty Vaughn, Albert Markum, Keith Fisher, Jere Baldridge, Frank Johnson and Leroy Perryman. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Character Builders Sunday School Class at Union City First United Methodist Church and members of the Hardee's Coffee Club. The family requests that memorials be made to Union City First United Methodist Church at 420 East Main St. or Hornbeak United Methodist Church.

He was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Tiptonville, son of the late Ruth (Hall) and John E. Vaughn Sr.

He married the former Winnie Gates Oct. 3, 1943. She died March 9, 2006. He was a retired employee of Firestone Tire in Memphis who worked in plant protection. He was a member of Union City First United Methodist Church and the Character Builders Sunday School Class and was a former member of Union City Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Lou Collette of Walton, Ky.; his granddaughter, Stephanie Collette of Walton; his brother, Howard Vaughn of Tiptonville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers and his sister.
