Maxwell Douglass Baker, 59, of Harrisonburg, died Saturday night at his home. He had suffered a heart attack in 1969.

Mr. Baker was born September 22, 1914, and was a son of the late G.H. and Nettie Viola Morrison Baker.

He formerly had been associated with his brother in the operation of Baker's Garage and also had driven a school bus. He was the first Rockingham County dog warden and had been a deputy with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department for several years.

At the time of his death, he was a campus policeman at Eastern Mennonite College.

On December 27, 1936 he married the former Ida Madaline Spitzer, who survives.

Also surviving are five children, a sister, three brothers, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lindsey Harrisonburg Funeral Home by the Rev. Daniel C. Agnew and the Rev. W.E. Wolfe. Burial will be in the Lacey Spring Cemetery.
