Aubrey "Gayle" Cochrain was born September 29, 1926, and died September 11, 2014. He was born to Fannie Mae (Gunn) and James "Aubrey" Cochrain In Portales, New Mexico. He passed away in Sherman, Texas, after living with his son and daughter-in-law at Lake Kiowa, Texas.

He was married to Wanda Faye Wagoner Lee, presently of North Carolina. His second wife was Mary Nell Daugherty who preceded him in death on March 7, 2003.

He worked for the State of New Mexico while residing in Hobbs and previously the college in Portales and prior to that in family trucking business. He was a wonderful rock hound who made silver and gem jewelry and enjoyed traveling to craft shows. He loved western movies, joking around, and fishing. He loved accompanying his guitar playing brother Raymond with the harmonica.

His memories are carried on by: his son, Dennis Cochrain and wife, Debra; son, Terry Cochrain of NC; sister, Wilma Pickard of Alamogordo; brother, Raymond Cochrain of Portales and his wife, Pearl; three granddaughters, Amber Bagley, Heather Cochrain and Andrea Lakin; two great granddaughters, KayLynn and Annabelle; three great grandsons, Dennis, John and Oliver; many nieces and nephews; grand and great grand nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
