BETTE B. BENDER
Services for Bette B. Bender, 65, were held Sept. 24 at the First United Presbyterian Church with burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.
Mrs. Bender died in the John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, early Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, after several months illness. Bette Beatrice Brandt was born in Waverly Aug. 12,1916, the daughter of Fred and Esther Scott Brandt. The Brandt family later lived in Waterloo, and Belleville, Ill., where she received her early education, before moving to Anamosa in 1927. She graduated from the Anamosa High School in 1931 and then attended Coe College and was a graduate of the Cedar Rapids Business College, Cedar Rapids. Bette Brandt and James A. Bender were married in the Methodist Church, Anamosa, July 21, 1934. Following the marriage the couple lived in Monticello, Waverly and Cedar Falls, returning to Monticello in 1947.
Until her retirement, due to illness, she was associated for over thirty years with Dr. L. C. Perkins Chiropractor's Office. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Monticello, Past Worthy Matron and State Officer of Schreiner Chapter O.E.S. Monticello.
She is survived by her husband and two children, James David Bender, Clarence; and Mrs. Kenneth (Janalee) Aldrich of Davenport. She is also survived by three grandsons, Michael D. and Timothy A. Aldrich, Davenport; James L. Bender, Clarence, and a God-daughter, Barbara Kay, Phoenix, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by a grandson,Dan Aldrich, her parents and two brothers.
Casketbearers were Bruce Clark, Michael Aldrich, Timothy Aldrich, James L. Bender, Steven Heerts, Earl Wurster.
