James H. (Jimmie) Washam, age 83, of Corbin, KY passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at The Heritage in Corbin after an extended illness. He was born November 30, 1933 at Stearns, Kentucky to Floyd and Okley Washam.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Sue Coffey Washam, and his brother Kenneth Mack Washam.

He is survived by his wife Joan Jackson Washam; his sister Anna Jo Williamson; his sister-in-law Vivian Washam; his children: Mark (Kathy) Washam and Martha (Jim) Treadway; stepchildren: David (Delores) Jackson, Suzanne (Eddie) Riddlebarger, and Paul (Michelle) Jackson; grandchildren: Ryan Washam and Katie (Brian) Reis, James, Hannah and Joseph Treadway, Jarrett Jackson, Cheyanne and Colter Riddlebarger, Ashleigh, Lauren and Maddie Jackson and two great grandchildren: Max and Jay Reis.

James served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a faithful servant to the Lord. He retired from teaching industrial arts in the Boone County school system.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 23 from 2:00 pm until the funeral at 4:00 pm at Central Baptist Church in Corbin. Officiating will be Pastor Chad Fugitt, Seniors' Minister James Vandy, and Dr. Don Mathis.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 24 at 2:00 pm at the Burlington (Ky) Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
