N. B. DeArman Passes Away (Feb 21, 1929)
Newton Bunk DeArman, better known as "Uncle Bunk", passed away in his home in Portales Thursday morning, Feb 21, after several weeks of illness.
Mr. and Mrs. DeArman came to Portales about eight years ago buying the Stephenson home in the south part of Portales where they have made their home since.
For many years, these good people have been engaged in missionary work for the Nazarene Church, Mrs. DeArman being connected with the rescue home work of this church.
They have made splendid citizens since locating in Portales and were held in high esteem by all who knew them. The death of Mr.DeArman will be greatly felt by the community and the Nazarene organization of this state.
Mr. DeArman was born April 26, 1862 in DeArmanville, AL. He is survived by his wife, Carrie, one daughter, Mrs. John Skinner of Portales. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolly Zumwalt of Carrizozo.
Funeral services will be held at the Nazarene Church on Feb 22, by Rev. Gunstream.
Interment will be in the Portales Cemetery.
