FAY D. ANDERSON, 88 PECATONICA - Fay D. Anderson, 88, of Pecatonica went home to our Lord on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010. Born July 23, 1922, the son of Oscar and Hulda M. (Spjut) Anderson in Pecatonica. Fay was blinded in World War II but had a distinct way of recognizing people by their voice. When able, he took part in marching in the Memorial Day parade in Pecatonica. He was a very proud veteran. Fay married Doris P. Duzan on June 3, 1953, in First Evangelical Church; she died April 16, 1999. Fay enjoyed making rag rugs in his loom room. Member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was a member of the men's group. Also a member of the Eugene J. Barloga American Legion Post 197, Donald L. Tarbert VFW 8416 and the Pecatonica Lions Club. Despite his disability, he was very active and independent and was admired by his family and friends. Fay was a die-hard Cubs fan.

Survived by 29 nieces and nephews. Predeceased also by brothers, Roy, Floyd and Warren; and sisters, Gladys Eckburg, Ruth Seyler and Doris Whitney.

Service at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, in First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pecatonica with full military rights; Pastor Tom Jacoby officiating. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, in Kenneth L. Countryman Funeral Home, 529 Washington St., Pecatonica, and from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday in the church. Memorials to Pecatonica Lions Club and VNA Hospice.
