In the 1900 census he is age 14 and the birth information says he was born February 1886. His name in the census was Jesse S. He was a son in the family of Henry and Virginia Creekmore.

For the 1910 Pine Knot, KY census Jessie was living with his mom and dad, Henry and Jinny, who was a farmer; however, Jesse, age 24, was a flagman on the railroad, living at home with his siblings, Billy, Mary, Martha, A.V., Julia and Eddie.

On December 11, 1910, Jesse was married to Ettie Wilson. He was 24 years old and she was age 14. Her father, John Wilson gave permission for her marriage. They were married by W. B. White, Minister of the Gospel at her father's house. They were both from Whitley Co., KY

His World War I draft record says he was born February 27, 1886, age 32. He was living in Logan, West Virginia and was a Teamster for the Island Creek Coal Company which was part of the West Virginia Coalfields. The company was started in 1902, and in the 1920s a local sheriff was hired by the company to stop union organizers, which he did to the detriment of the unions. Perhaps Jesse participated? The company was independently owned for a long time but has now been sold off, though it still holds the name but is part of a larger business today. At one time the Logan Coalfields were the number one producers of coal in the US, but no longer holds that title today.

By the 1920 census he was listed as being age 32 and his wife, Martha, was age 18. Between the 1918 WWI Draft Registration and the 1920 census he did not get any older! In fact, he would be born in 1888 if you compute his age of 32 in the 1920 census. They were living in Pine Knot, KY and he was working for the railroad doing track work. He obviously got out of the coal mining business. With the completion in 1880 of the Cincinnati Southern Railway, it is possible that he was working for this company in 1920.

In 1930 he moved with his family to Cincinnati, Ohio to work as a section hand for the railroad. He was age 44 and she is age 28. The question on the census that asks the age at marriage was not completed. His family, at the time consisted of Albert, age 9; Nannie, age 9; Lola, age 3; and Gaylord, age 9/12. In the house next door was a William and Alice Creekmore, age 28 and 25 respectively with their 3 kids. He was married at age 19 and she at 15! He too, worked for the railroad as a laborer. In the review of the 1910 census in the family of Henry and Virginia, William was not a part of it and so his relationship to Jesse is unknown.

In 1940 Jess and Martha were back living in Strunk, KY and he had, once again changed occupations to that of being a farmer. His neighbors were involved in the local coal mining business. In addition, they had 6 children: Albert, age 19; Lola, age 14; Mary, age 7; Ala, age 5; Abner, age 5; and Becky, age 3.

On April 27, 1942, Jesse completed his WWII Draft Registration. In this record he went by Jessie B. Creekmore. The Registrar who completed the form was his brother Birdell Creekmore. Jesse was tall at 5'8" and 135 lbs. He was residing in Pine Knot, KY, age 56, born in Whitley Co., KY on Feb. 27, 1886. He was not working at this time and his nearest relative was Martha, his wife. He signed this registration as Jessie B. Creekmore.

His death certificate says that he died February 10, 1953, age 67 years 11 months 13 days, which computes out to be February 25, 1885, which conflicts with information that is supplied in a variety of records which states he was born February 27, 1886. His parents are listed on the death certificate as Henry Creekmore and Virginia Ellison.

The death certificate was, apparently, completed by several individuals because there appears to be several different handwritings. Here's some noted points:

Length of years = 60 yrs-- years in cursive
Father's name - Henry Creekmore - name in cursive
Mother's name - Virginia Ellison - first name printed, maiden name in cursive
Social Security - none - in cursive
Informant's name - Martha Creekmore - printed, but appears to be with same pen and same ink pressure as the funeral director's handwriting
Funeral Director's name in cursive and it is his pen that is making all the entries that are in cursive and heavier black ink.

The person who completed the cause of death was the local county judge! There was no autopsy. He had a heart condition.
