Orange Mourns One of Its Most Highly
Respected Citizens.

On Friday morning June 1st, Mr. M. G. Pixley, our highly respected and much beloved townsman, rode out over his farm and took a last look at his earthly possessions. Returned to the house he seated himself in the old arm chair where he conversed pleasantly with friends and neighbors until about six in the evening, when the Angel of Death called him away.
Mr. Pixley was born in Ohio, came to Minnesota with his parents, settled in Olmstead Co., enlisted in the army at 16 and was honorably discharged at the close of the war. Came to Douglas County about 25 years ago and settled in the town of Orange where for the last 14 years he has served in the capacity of Town Clerk. Mr. Pixley had just completed one of the finest residences in the town when the lamp of life went out. He has suffered a number of years with heart trouble and died at the age of 45 years and 5 months. The funeral services were held at the school house Sunday by Rev. Ross. Over 300 people in attendance. 71 teams were in the procession that went to the grave.
The veterans acted as pall bearers and deceased was buried in the English Grove Cemetery.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss an aged mother, a wife, one son, Charles,; one daughter, Nellie; two sisters, Mrs. Wealthy Harmon, on Montana and Mrs. Millie Harmon, of Grove Lake; one brother George, of Grey Eagle, besides a large number of friends and acquaintances.
