Alvina Somdalen, 89, died Sunday, July 31, 1994, in First Care Nursing Home, Fosston.

Alvina Schacher was born April 22, 1905, in Sletten Township, Polk County, Minn., the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Mager) Schacher. She married Edward Somdalen in 1925 in Ross, N.D., where they lived until 1939, when they moved to Spokane, Wash. The couple in 1945 bought a farm in Lengby, Minn., where they farmed. He died in 1969, and she moved to Fosston.

She is survived by sons, Arnold, Brooklyn Center, Minn., and Milfred, Lengby; a daughter, Elaine Wogsland, Plymouth, Minn., 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Fridhem Lutheran Church, Lengby. Visitations: 5 to 7 p.m. today, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home, Fosston. Burial: Lengby City Cemetery.
