Donald J. Abulencia, Sr., 80, of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, with loving family by his side. Donald proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He retired from Carrier Corp. where he worked in Maintenance for over 15 years. Donald was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #9596, lifetime member of American Legion, Post #1276, lifetime member of Samson Air Force Base Veterans Association, and lifetime member Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Donald is predeceased by his first wife of 34 years, Phyllis and second wife of 17 years, Donna; and sister, Annella Blanchette. He is survived by his children, Linda (Kevin) Demerle-Tubbs, Donald, Jr. (Mary) Abulencia, Martin Abulencia, Joan Abulencia, Dennis (Norma) Donovan, Dawne Donovan and Doree VanTassel; brothers, Jack, Charles and Michael Abulencia; and grandchildren, Christine, Stephen, Matthew, Alan, Amanda, Ricky, Nicole, Kristin, Veronica and Taylor. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, 11 a.m., at Traub Funeral Home, 7975 Rt. 31, Bridgeport. Calling Hours: Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial in Bridgeport Cemetery, with military honors, immediately following the service on Friday.
