Vera Lucille Mansheim, 89, Colome, died Monday, Nov 8, 2004, at the Winner Regional Healthcare Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Colome. Burial will be in the St. Isidore's Catholic Cemetery, Colome. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Mason Funera Home, Winner. Visitation will resume from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the church with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service.
She was born July 7, 1919, at Herrick to Henry and Molly (Faatz) Pastian.
The family later made its home in the Carlock and Paxton areas where she attended rural schools.
Later she worked in the Dallas and Colome areas doing washing and housework for various families.
On June 27, 1940, she married Robert Mansheim.
They lived on a farm north of Colome.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughter's of America for over 50 years and a teacher of CCD for many years. She was a Tripp County 4-H leader for 26 years and helped with 4-H Achievement Days and other activities. She was a member of the Sully Homemaker's Extension Club; American Legion Auxiliary; and was a Farmers Union Youth Leader for over 25 years.
Her husband died in 1996.
She remained on the family farm until 2002, when she moved to the Rose Mannor, Colome.
She is survived by her five children: Harold and wife, Connie, Brookings: Donald, Dallas; Betty Dvorak and husband, Don, Winner; Leo and wife, Retta, Dallas; and Joyce, Orlando, FL; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Vi Christensen, Gregory; Florence Warner, Bridgeport NE; Blanche Horton, Yankton; her brother, Ruben Pastian, Huron; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was proceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son, Douglas; five brothers: Floyd, Harry, Ivan, Bob, and Ray: three sisters: Elizabeth, Irene, and Agnes; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
