John Saxton

Died July 22, 1899, at Unionville, lake County, Ohio, John Saxton in the 81st year of his age. He was a former resident of the village of Westville, this county, and was born in the town of Middlefield, December 4, 1818. he was the youngest and last suriving member of a family of eight children all of whom grew up and lived to have large families. His parents were John and Ester (Niles) Saxton who came to Middlefield from Washington county in 1805. His wife was Asenath Bates also of Otsego county and who died a number of years ago. he is survived by four children; Hiram Saxton of Abereorn, Va.; Luman E. Saxtonn of Cooperstown; Miss Jennie Saxton of unionville, Ohio; and Mrs. Luela (Saxton) Cooper, wife of the Rev. D.H. Cooper of Peru, Ill. Mr Saxton's last illness was of very brief duration, and his death unexpected though he had not been in good health for a year or more. He was of a rugged christian character and a type of the older generation fast disappearing from among us.
