Held Tuesday

Resident Of Clarke County For
70 Years Died At Age
Of 82 Years

Funeral services were held Tuesday in Osceola for Sylvester McNair, 82-year-old resident of Clarke county for 70 years, who died April 3 at a hospital in Clarinda. Rev. Fr. Gerald Deere said the requiem mass at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning in St. Bernard Catholic church here. Burial was in St. Mary cemetery at Woodburn. Arrangements were in charge of the Miller Funeral Home.

The son of Peter and Deborah Conley McNair, he was born May 31, 1876, in Iowa county and came to Clarke county at the age of 12 years. He had been a farmer in Clarke county until 14 years ago when he retired and moved to Osceola.

Survivors include a half-brother, Ben McNair of Columbia, Nebr.; a niece, Mrs. Perry Diehl, with whom he made his home for the past few years; a nephew, Lloyd McNair, of Osceola.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy, and three infant children; his second wife, Margaret; and his brothers, Andrew, Joseph, Peter and William.
