Mary Bartlett, age 93, a lifelong resident of Harmon County, Oklahoma, and had resided at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hollis for the last six years, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at Harmon County Memorial Hospital in Hollis, Oklahoma. Mary was born in Harmon County on June 22, 1921 to James Warren and Pearl (Wheeler) Mitchell.

Mary graduated from LaCasa High School and shortly after high school she married the love of her life Romie Bartlett on November 18, 1939 in Hollis and they were married for over 62 years before Romie’s death in 2002. She was a member and taught Sunday school class at the Antioch Baptist Church in Hollis for many years and later moved her membership to the Hollis First Baptist Church. Throughout the years in Hollis Mary worked at the Searcey Drug Store and at Renate’s and she took care of her family and all the duties of being a farmer’s wife. Mary enjoyed cooking, sewing and crochet, gardening, spending time with her family, playing 42, dominoes, and various games with her grandchildren. She will be missed very much.

Preceded in death by her parents and her husband; her son, Johnny Bartlett; three brothers; and her two close sisters, Agnes Graves and LaRue Potter; Mary is survived by one daughter, Peggy Kirchoff and her husband Bart of Hollis; one daughter-in-law, Tricia Bartlett; 4 grandchildren Lesli Partain of Yukon; Lori Taylor and husband Ty of Texas; Lindsi Tillman and husband Rance of Hollis; Kelly Reed and husband Eric of Texas; 7 great grandchildren, Rebekah, Caleb, Macy, Austin, Jayde, Romi, Blythe; and one great great grandson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Harmon County Funeral Home in Hollis with Pastor Don Altom officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis.
