James Clyde Abbott, 87, of Huntsville died Tuesday at a local hospital. Mr. Abbott was a native of Lincoln County, Tenn. He was a veteran of World War II on the staff of Admiral W.F. Halsey working as yeoman 1st class for his aide Admiral Kitchell in the South Pacific. He was assigned to the Battleship USS South Dakota BB57 on 24 November 1945 as a Seaman First Class (S1/C). The South Dakota served as Admiel Halsey's Flag Ship.
