Victoria -- Mary Sophia Herman, 104, formerly of Hays, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at St. John's of Victoria Nursing Home.

She was born Sept. 16, 1899, in Catherine to Alexander & Clementina (Wasinger) Schueler.

She married Edward Herman on June 17, 1919, in Severin. He died Feb. 27, 1962.

She was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and Victoria Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Herman, St. George, Utah, Edward Herman, Salmon, Idaho, and William Herman, Petaluma, Calif.; two daughters, Clemencia O'Grady, Phoenix,
Ariz., and Agnes Herman, Victoria; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eddie, and two daughters, Esther Weigel and Elizabeth Drake.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Catherine; burial in the church cemetery. A Victoria Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Friday at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the organization of the donor's choice.
