Wm. B. Tripp was born in Vermont, Feb. 9, 1822. In 1837 he moved to Jackson county, Mich., where he remained a number of years. When the gold fever broke out in California in 1849, Mr. Tripp was one of a party who made the trip across the plains to that country, where he remained until 1849 [?!], when he returned and settled in Bangor, which was his residence continually until the time of his death.
He was united in marriage to Lucy E. Cross, Nov. 22, 1846, and to this union eight children were born, three of whom died in infancy, five growing to maturity. During the past year two have been removed by death, those living being Henry L. Tripp of Bangor, Mrs. E.M. Torey [sic] and Burrell A. Tripp of Allegan. Besides these he leaves an aged widow, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild to revere his memory.
Funeral services will be held from his late residence to-day [sic] at 10 o'clock.
