Born in Barnwell County, June 30, 1924, he was the son of the late George Elias Ray and Estelle Sanders Ray. He was a member of West Columbia First Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Ray served in the U.S. Army during WW II, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Richland County as a heavy equipment operator
He was predeceased by brothers, Ralph Ray and Harold Ray; sisters, Elizabeth Browning, Willie Mae Layson and Polly Dorn and a grandchild, Tracy Lee Chavis.
