Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Augustine's Catholic church, Fessenden, the
Rev. Wilfred Shannon officiating. The Rosary will be recited Thursday at the Neuenschwander chapel.
Active pallbearers include Ben Rogelstad, M. C. Solberg, Ernest Lacy, Bert Werzel, M. O. Miller and Lewis Price. Honorary pallbearers include: William Lamm, John Layne, Lee Lyness, George Kunkel, Fred Mohr and Ollie O'Brien. Interment will be in Hillside cemetery. Neuenschwander Bros. Funeral Home in charge.
John Litke was born December 16, 1881 near Mankato, Minn. In 1902 he came to Wells County settling on a farm south of Fessenden. In the spring of 1907, Mr. Litke went west, spending some time in Montana and then in Canada. He returned to Wells County in 1915 and settled on a farm south of Sykeston. In 1917 he was united in marriage with Lena Pepple of Fessenden. In 1929 they moved to a farm 2 miles north of Fessenden, which has been his home ever since.
He leaves to mourn one son, George, at home. Also surviving are one brother, Walter of Little Falls, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Albert Dalueg of Wilton, ND and Mrs. C. G. Gilberts of Duluth, Minnesota; two half-brothers, Joseph and Lawrence of Holden, Alberta, Canada; four half-sisters, Mrs. Jack Green of Minneapolis, Mrs. Katie Van Hill, Mrs. Walter Klawitter and Anna Litke of Holden, Alberta, Canada, and a host of friends. Mrs. Litke preceded him in death in March of 1947.
Mr. Litke was a sports enthusiast for many years, attending most of the athletic contests of this community.
