John V. Bloys died at St. Luke's Hospital in Bethlehem. He was 88 and had lived in Bethlehem the past three years, moving there from Westfield.

Son of Benjamin and Laura B. Bloys. His father ran the Stanton General Store from 1880 until 1935, and his mother was the Stanton Postmistress during that period.

He graduated from Flemington High School in 1922 and Lafayette College in 1926. He then taught high school for a year before going to Columbia Law School, from which he graduated in 1930.

He was associate counsel and later assistant counsel for the Life Insurance Association of America from 1930 until 1960. He was then with the law firm of Donovan & Moolash in New York until retiring in 1970.

He is survived by his wife, the former Anne Polhemus, a native of Flemington Junction and two sons, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
