The Steuben Advocate, Bath, New York, December 19, 1883.

In Memoriam

Entered into rest on Friday, December 14, Adelia wife of Dr. J. W. Velie and daughter of the late Lay Noble, aged 51.

This sorrowful bereavment was not sudden or unexpected. She had long suffered with a complication of diseases which baffled alike the assiduity of friends and the skill of physcians. About a year since, she visited Florida, and at the end of a few months there, she found her symptoms better in some respect, but less hopeful in others. She returned to her home in Chicago, and there patiently awaited the coming of her Lord. To the cry of him of the apocapocolypas -- "Surely and come quickley," her glad heart responded, "even so come Lord Jesus."
The deceased was the last of the little family group, gathered under the same roof tree, of which it was the writers happiness to make the acquaintace many years since. There was an aged woman, a widow, of about four score and four years, who reminded him of one Anna, a prophtess.

There was a father and mother of middle age; and there was a son and daughter, just entering upon the scenes of busy life, and these were all united not by kindness alone, but by those of a common faith, and of fixed religious principles, and which were a grand loyalty to the Church of God, and a charity that never faileth.

It is sad to think that these are all gone from us. It is a blessed thought that they are now forever reunited in The sweet blessed country, The home of God's elect.
