He married Anna Marie Kessinger, 1773-1824,
on 10 July 1791 in Greenbrier Co., VA (now WV).

"Born on a farm, near Somerset, VA.

With his wife, Anna Marie Kissinger, had 5 sons and 4 daughters. The oldest son, Thomas, was the founder of the Marion Co., Iowa family.

According to the book, Us Maddys, died at home on Indian Creek of “bloody flux,” (dysentery, inflammation of the colon). Burial place unknown."
