SCHUYLERVILLE -- Harriet Boex, 84, a resident of Pearl Street in Schuylerville, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, at her home. Born Dec. 4, 1919, in Schuylerville, she was the daughter of Judge George and Leona Lemieux Fremont. Mrs. Boex was a graduate of Schuylerville Central School and attended the Memorial School of Nursing. For many years, she was employed by the Schuylerville Central School. She was a charter member in 1953 of the Schuylerville Dollars for Scholars and was chairman for many years. In 1993, she received a National Citation, naming her to the National Honor Roll for her many dedicated years of service. She also received the J.C. Penney 'Golden Rule Award' for outstanding community service. She was a 4-H leader for the Jolly Juniors and Juniorettes clubs for 14 years. She was a member and past president of the Schuylerville Garden Club and was a member of the Old Saratoga Senior Citizens. She was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Anne Rosary Society and was a eucharistic minister. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, the Rev. Gilbert Fremont, Leon Fremont and Joseph Fremont and six sisters, Rita Ruff, Lillian Taylor, Dorothy Ryan, Beatrice Meloche, Marie Foster and Leona Mason. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Lewis Boex of Schuylerville; two daughters, Carylee Caputo of Woodbury, Tenn., and Kathleen Jordan of Louisville, Ky; one son, Dr. James Boex and his wife, Dr. Denise Gibson, of Hudson, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Lee, Jamie, Allison, Christian and Noelle Boex, Jeannianne Carr and William Jordan; four great-grandchildren, Yelena and Robert Boex and Caleb and Wesley Carr; one brother, Robert Fremont of Gainesville, Fla.; three sisters, Gloria Marozin of North Carolina, Mary Schoenecker of Cape Haze, Fla., and Marguerite Wright of Easton; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Notre Dame-Visitation Church with the Rev. Christopher Welch officiating. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
