Robert Allen (Bob) Fennel, 70-year-old life-long Moberlyan died Saturday morning in Moberly Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

Bob was born Sept. 9, 1934, in Moberly, the youngest child of Henry C. and Ethel Martin Fennel. He attended Moberly Public Schools and graduated from Moberly Junior College now Moberly Area Community College, and he was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

Bob was employed by the City of Moberly as a fireman and in the family business, Fennel Auto and Body Works, before joining the railroad. He worked for the Wabash, Norfolk and Western, Norfolk and Southern railroads receiving a disability retirement in 1994. At the time of his retirement he was a carman.

He was a member of the Coates Street Presbyterian Church in Moberly since April 21, 1946.

Bob held the oldest membership in the Magnum Gun Club, was a member of the 54-15 Gun Club, life member of North American Hunting Club, National Rifle Association, National Association Retired Veteran Veteran Railway Employees, Inc., (NARVE), United Transportation Union and Transportation Communications International Union. He also belonged to the Ararat Shrine, Coon Creek Shrine Club serving as its present secretary-treasurer; Moberly Lodge No. 344 AF & AM, Moberly Chapter No. 79, Centralia Council No. 34, Scottish Rite of Free Masonary 32nd Degree and Tancred Commandry No. 25.

Mr. Fennel is survived by his wife, whom he married 37 years ago on Aug. 18, in the Cairo Baptist Church; one brother and sister-in-law; his mother-in-law; two sisters-in-law, and a brother-in-law and his wife, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry C. Fennel Jr. and his wife, Mary Lou; sister, Agnes Marie Fennel Ader, and her husband, John; and father-in-law, Tom Carr Sr.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
