Friday 12 June 1896---GADSDEN TIMES NEWS
.
The entire city was shocked last Monday to learn the news of the death of Master Walter Bellenger, youngest son of Captain and Mrs. John M. Bellenger.
Last February he was taken sick and he was carried to Atlanta for treatment. Dr. Todd pronounced his trouble as Bright's disease. Local physicians were also called in.
About a week ago Walter took his bed, and it was soon plain he was seriously ill. On Monday morning at 3:30 o'clock he expired.
Walter was fourteen years old and was an exceptionally bright child for his age. He was a source of great comfort to his mother and father who fairly worshiped him..............
Capt. J.M. Bellenger was telegraphed for at Vicksburg, Miss., and he arrived here at 5 o'clock Monday morning just a short while after Walter had breathed his last.
The funeral occurred Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock, and the interment was made in Forrest cemetery immediately afterwards.
