"Former Glencoe Resident Dies
Mrs. Ed. Harris of Superior, Wis. Passes
Funeral Services Held in This City" from The Glencoe Enterprise, Glencoe MN, June 3 1936

Mrs. Cynthia Harris, wife of Edward Harris, passed away at their home in Superior, Wisc., on Saturday, May 30, age 68 years, 3 months and 26 days. She had been an invalid for several years and succumbed to a heart attack.

The late Mrs. Harris was the daughter of Samuel and Frances Hatten, pioneer settlers of Rich Valley township, this county, where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Edward Harris on July 20, 1892. They operated a farm near Hector, Minn, until 1913, when they retired from farming and established their home in Glencoe. In 1924, they moved to Superior, Wisc., where they have since lived.

The deceased is survived by her bereft husband; one sister, Mrs. Oscar Howe of Glencoe; and three brothers, Alvin Hatten of Aberdeen, SD, Samuel W. Hatten of Minneapolis, and Fred M. Hatten of Stewart.

The remains were conveyed to Glencoe Monday and rested at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Abram DeLeew, the latter a sister of Mr. Harris, until Tuesday afternoon when funeral services were held at the Congregational church at 1:30 o'clock at which Rev. T. C. McQueen officiated. Mrs. Frank Reimers and Miss Annamarie Tudhope sang "Sometime We'll Understand" and "Abide with Me". Interment was in the Koniska cemetery where the parents of Mrs. Harris and the mother of Mr. Harris lay at rest. The pallbearers were F. J. Zich, John Teply, John Portele, A. C. Howe, Henry Jensen and Robert Bock.

Many former neighbors of the deceased from Rich Valley and Hector joined her friends from this city at the last rites, and large attendance attested to the esteem in which the departed life was held. The late Mrs. Harris was a Christian woman and was an adherent of the Methodist church. She was of genial disposition and her solicitude and sympathy with all those about her won her staunch friends. Much sympathy is expressed for the aged and sorrowing husband and also the sister and brothers in their loss.

Among those from distant points in attendance at the last rites were Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Harris of Ortonville; Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Hatten of Montevideo; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wolf, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Ruppert, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Went, Mr. and Mrs. John Torbet, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Torbet, Miss Ida Hammond and Walley Lovering of Hector, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin E. Hatten and daughter, Vera, of Aberdeen, SD, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hatten and son of Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Hatten of Brownton, Grant and Miss Rachel Marshall of Hutchinson, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hatten and Mrs. Byron Hatten of Minneapolis, Robert Bock and Mrs. Ellen Berry of Superior, Wisc., Mrs. Edwin Sontag and daughter of Hastings, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Doyle of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Ed. Doyle of Hutchinson, Mr. and Mrs. Walter DeMuth of Hutchinson, and Mrs. Oscar Howe who came from Montana.
