Limas Simmons, son of John and Judy Simmons.

Brother of Milo Simmons, Solomon Simmons, John Simmons, and Ida (Simmons) Morgan.

Limas Simmons was the husband of 1st wife Adeline (Williams) Simmons; 2nd wife Maggie (Mims?) Simmons. Death/burial information is unknown for Maggie at this time

He died between 26 November and 11 December 1889 in Edgefield County, SC. There is the high probability he was buried in the Simmons Ridge Baptist Church (SRBC) Cemetery: Limas founded the SRBC and was one of its early Pastors (1869 to 1870, and recalled 1887 to 1888); his first wife, and the mother of his children, Adeline (Williams) Simmons was buried there; four of the witnesses contained in the 1889 estate record of Limas Simmons had close ties to the SRBC and were among some of its earlier members: Thomas Lee, Andrew Perry, and Addison Childs were Deacons; Lee and Perry were Sunday School Superintendents; Lee was involved in building the new SRBC building completed in 1913; Andrew Childs was a President of the Simmon Ridge Benevolent Society; George Morgan was the first pastor of SRBC and a brother-in-law of Limas Simmons. The Executor of Limas Simmons’ estate record was John Simmons who was his oldest son and a Deacon of the Church and a member of its building committee.

Limas’ burial at the Simmons Ridge Baptist Church has yet to be confirmed.

Limas Simmons achieved other accomplishments that included: first settled Pastor at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Saluda, SC from 1870 to 1884; and served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1872 to 1874.
