FARMER BRANDISHES SHOTGUN, THREATENS WIFE AND CHILDREN
Sheriff Has Warrant For Arrest of Fred Lincks – None Were Harmed
BOOKED FOR INTOXICATION
Family Flees From Home When Man Fires Two Shots – Son Star Basketball Player

Brandishing a shotgun and knife, Fred Lincks, 62-year old father of ten children, threatened the lives of his wife, son and daughter Sunday night, members of the family told Prosecutor Scott Moser Monday morning.
His intended victims were Mrs. Nancy Lincks, age 61, his wife; Kenneth Lincks, age 18, his son, star member of the Nineveh high school basketball team; Sue Lincks, age 16, his daughter, a student at Nineveh high school, according to the story told to the prosecutor.
After spending the entire morning drinking, Lincks is said to have returned to his farm home, three miles west of Nineveh on Road 252 about 4:30 Sunday afternoon. Described as "roaring drunk" by members of the family, Lincks questioned his afflicted daughter, Grace, age 22, concerning the whereabouts of members of the family.
Would Beat Daughter
When Grace told him that Kenneth and Sue were visiting another son, Thomas Lincks, in Morgan county, the enraged man grabbed an ax and stalked to the rear of the house. He chopped a large limb from a shade tree and threatened to beat his daughter to death when she returned, it was said.
Meanwhile Mrs. Lincks, who had been milking and feeding the cattle, returned to the house from the barn and was threatened by her husband.
About 5:30 the two children returned and stopped the automobile in front of the home on Road 252. Apparently half-mad through the effects of the liquor, the family told the prosecutor Lincks dashed from the house and brandished the club.
Fires Shotgun
His daughter fled to the home of Otis Cobb, a neighbor, and Kenneth went into the house. Lincks then got his shotgun and threatened his wife. When his son, Kenneth, attempted to interfere, Lincks is said to have drawn a knife and said he would "cut up" his son.
After the man had fired one shot in the house and the mother and son hurried to the home of Mr. Cobb, Lincks is said to have fired another shot outside the house.
The family remained at the home of their neighbor until about 9:30. Fearing for their lives, they said, Kenneth creeped into the house to see if his father still remained. Mrs. Lincks hid in a wood shed behind the house for more than an hour before she came into the house.
Locked in Bedroom
The crippled daughter, Grace, said her father had either left or was asleep in the bedroom. She had bolted the door from the outside. Grace told her mother it was safe to come inside.
Kenneth and his mother remained near the stove for the remainder of the night and Sue stayed at the home of Mr. Cobb. About 1:30 Monday morning, Kenneth slept for a few hours but Mrs. Lincks said she remained awake all night.
Before coming to Franklin about 6:30 Monday morning, Mrs. Lincks said she saw her husband but did not tell him where they were going.
Charges of public intoxication were filed against the man by Prosecutor Moser. It was indicated that more serious charges might be filed later.
Sheriff Mulkins went to the home Monday morning with a warrant for the arrest of the man, but had not returned late in the afternoon.
