"LESTER G. BAKER
"Funeral services for Dearborn County Circuit Court Judge Lester G. Baker, 71, Outer Drive, Aurora, Will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday, July 17, in the rotunda of the Dearborn County Courthouse, Lawrenceburg. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, in the Rullman Funeral Home, Aurora, with burial in Riverview Cemetery.

"Judge Baker suffered a heart attack Friday, July 12, and died Saturday, July 13, in Dearborn County Hospital.

"He and his twin brother, Dr. Leslie M. Baker, were honored last week in their hometown by Aurora City Council, which designated July 8-12 in honor of the two longtime public servants. Mayor Paul 0. Alford read proclamations and presented framed certificates to both men.

"Judge Baker was born July 11, 1914, and attended Aurora Elementary, Junior High and High School before going to Indiana University. He began the practice of law in 1937, and began public service with two terms as prosecuter from 1940-43 and 1946-48. He served as Dearborn Circuit Judge from 1948 until his death. His term as prosecutor was interrupted by military service in the U.S. Army from October, 1943 to June, 1946. Judge Baker served as president of the Indiana Judges Association in 1970 he was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 231, Aurora, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, Shriners and the advisory and review committee of the Boy Scouts of America. He also was one of the figures instrumental in starting Dearborn County hospital.

"He is survived by his wife, Armada; his twin brother, Dr. Leslie M. Baker, Aurora; three sisters, Lois Keeler, Sidney, Ohio, Freda Smith, Richmond, Ky., and Berniece McLeaster, Lawrenceburg.

"The family suggests memorials be made to the Dearborn County Hospital Foundation, or the American Legion Post 231 scholarship fund."
