Joshua George, born in Butler County OH, was about 12 when he moved with his parents to Green Co IN about 1841, then on to Andrew Co MO about 1849. He married his first wife, Eliza Bowman in Andrew County MO on Nov 11, 1852 and his second wife, Lucy Ann Burk, in Andrew County, MO on Jan 1, 1863.

He was a carpenter who operated a saw mill east of Amazonia, MO in Andrew County, MO. Later in his life, he lived on Nodaway Island (sw of St Joseph, MO) before the Missouri River took the island in a flood in the 1880's.
