  Mrs. Edna (Opal) Gerstenecker, 74, of Troy died at 11:35 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland where she had been a patient for the past four weeks.
  Mrs. Gerstenecker was a homemaker and a long - time cafeteria worker in the Triad School District.
  She was born Feb. 8, 1902, in Elk City, Kan., a daughter of the late Charles and Nancy Stark. She was married to Edward Gerstenecker on Dec. 10, 1921, in Greenville. He preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1945.
  Surviving are four sons, Dale Gerstenecker of Freeburg, Edgar Gerstenecker of Troy, Milton Gerstenecker of Leslie Drive and A. Frank Gerstenecker of Troy, Mich.
  Six daughters survive. They are Mrs. Edwin (Berniece) Heck and Mrs. Glen (Marjorie) Hall, both of Quincy, Mrs. Duane (Evelyn) DeCota of Sikeston, Mo., Mrs. Robert (Jane) Converse and Miss Grace Gerstenecker, both of Troy, and Mrs. Clarke (Katherine) Lewis of Grimsby, Ont., Canada.
  Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. George (Mable) Compton and Mrs. Harry (Inez) Andrews, both of Staunton, Mrs. Tom (Zola) Kuhl of Witt and Mrs. Ray (Tessie) File of Greenville, 29 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
  Mrs. Gerstenecker was a member of Rebekah Lodge 544 of Troy and the Troy Senior Citizen Club. She belonged to the Troy Missionary Society and taught ladies Bible class at the Troy Presbyterian Church for many years.
  Friends may call at the Mateer Funeral Home in Troy after 2 p.m. Thursday and until 11 a.m. Friday. Rebekah Lodge services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
  The body will lie in state in the Troy Presbyterian Church from 12:30 p.m. Friday until funeral services at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Oliver Chumchal, pastor, officiating.
  Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery in Troy.
  Named as memorials are the Troy Presbyterian Church, the Troy Rebekah Lodge and the Troy Township Community Park.
