Rev. Father Felix de Grasse, O.S.B., was a Benedictine monk and the second abbot of Sacred Heart Abbey in Sacred Heart, Oklahoma, which became St. Gregory's Abbey in Shawnee. He led Sacred Heart from 1898 until his death in 1905. He also founded Immaculate Conception Parish in Pawhuska, OK, in 1887, and he founded St. Benedict Catholic Church in Shawnee, OK, in 1895.
Abbot Felix, originally a monk of the French monastery of Notre Dame de la Pierre-qui-Vire, professed monastic vows in 1865, and was ordained a Catholic priest in 1871. He came to Sacred Heart in 1877. He was the grand-nephew of French Admiral Francois Joseph Paul de Grasse , of Revolutionary War fame. Abbot Felix de Grasse also worked with Mother Katherine Drexel in establishing schools to assist and educate the Pottawatomie and Osage Native American population of Oklahoma.
