The Sentinel overlooked noting last week the death at her home near Coffeeville on the 16th of Mrs. J Mel Smith, wife of Dr. Mel Smith. Mrs. smith was the eldest daughter of Capt. J. G. Gibbs and was reared it was generally understood that the near Grenada (sic). When it is stated that family and the home of Capt. Gibbs was one of sweet relation-ship, it can readily be seen that there was a primary reason for the lovely character of this good woman now gone to her reward. She lead a beautiful christian life. She is survived by her husband, five sons and two daughters, four sisters and two brothers, who do not sorrow as those without hope.

She was born Jan. 28th 1847. Age 2 yrs. when picture (original) was made - Died Mar 17 - 19. Brought to Texas by her Coz. Margaret Payne Richardson & given to Dr. F. P. Smith in July 1941. A Picture of his mother.
