Julia Belle McQuilkin, 81, of Chillicothe died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at Heritage Manor in Bloomington.

Born Sept. 27, 1919, in Chillicothe to John and Blanche Beaumont Newell, she married John P. McQuilkin on June 16, 1942, in Missouri. He died April 2, 1998, in Chillicothe.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are one daughter, Betty (and Donald) White of Bloomington; one sister, Mary Ann Forbes of Williamsfield; three brothers, Harry Newell and Glenn Newell, both of Chillicothe, and Paul (and Mary) Newell of Yates City; one grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a cook for Fireside Nursing Home in Peoria Heights during the late 1960s and had cleaned several homes in the Chillicothe area during the mid- and late 1940s.

She formerly attended Blue Ridge Methodist Church in rural Chillicothe.

She was a member of the Farm Bureau in Henry.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Davison-Fulton Anderson Chapel, where visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Cemetery in rural Chillicothe.

Memorials may be made to Rescue 33.
