GREENVILLE - Mrs. Clara May Westmoreland Tinsley, 76, widow of E. C. Tinsley of 20 Elmwood Avenue died at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday at a Greenville hospital after four years of declining health and a serious illness of one day.
Mrs. Tinsley was born at Pelzer, the daughter of the late S. P. and Susan Electa Davis Westmoreland. She was a former resident of the Dunean community of Greenville and had lived at Greer since 1940. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church and a former teacher of the Mother's Class of the church.
Mrs. Tinsley had lived in Greenville with a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Smith for two years. Her husband died in 1958.
Surviving in addition to Mrs. Smith are: one daughter, Mrs. Olive Hilliam of Greenville; one sister, Mrs. G. V. Hanna of Greenville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. at Franklin Baptist Church by the Revs. I. V. Jones and J. A. Cave. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Greer.
These nephews are pallbearers: H. T. Westmoreland, Sanford, Theron and Kenneth Giles, Billy Tinsley and Horace Pitts. Deacons of Franklin Baptist Church will form the honorary escort.
The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m.
Wood Mortuary is in charge.
