MOCKSVILLE - Charles Wilson Call, 82, of Call Road, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at the N.C. State Veterans Home in Salisbury.

Born March 11, 1924, in Davie County, Mr. Call was a son to the late Taylor B. and Cora Mae Phelps Call. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. A longtime member at Liberty United Methodist Church, he had sung in the church and senior choirs and was a former trustee.

Mr. Call retired from Ingersoll-Rand after 17 years of service and was formerly with Dixie Furniture Co. in Lexington.

Mr. Call enjoyed fishing, and softball, but especially enjoyed Western adventure movies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Ruth Foster Call; sister Ruby McDaniel; and brothers Oscar Call, Graham Call and Jimmy Call.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy (Curtis) Call Marshall of Denton; sister Edna Janowski of Florida; brothers Ralph (Margaret) Call and Clarence (Lucy) Call, all of Mocksville; grandsons James Marshall and Bradley (Tracie) Marshall; and great-grandsons Dustin Marshall and Brandon Marshall.

Service: A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Karen Roberts, Mr. Jimmy Essex, the Rev. Arnold Gosnell and Mrs. Helen Foster officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
