Obituary:

Prominent Resident Passes Away.

This community was shocked to learn of the death of Peter Biebel, who died in a hospital Sunday morning at 7 o'clock after an illness of several months. Mr. Biebel was born in Green Bay 48 years ago and for the past 20 years was a resident of Wrightstown. On May 4, 1909, he was united in marriage to Miss Harriet Van Kessel of Green Bay, who survives him with three children, Robert 19, Ruth 17, and Byron 13, all at home. He is also survived by his father, Frank Biebel, and the following brothers and sisters, all living in Green Bay: John, Joseph, Frank, Michael, Edward and George Biebel, Mrs. Henry De Witt, Mrs. Milton Patton, Mrs. George Haupt, Mrs. George Summers and Miss Anna Biebel. Mr. Biebel operated Ridge Point park for some years, when he went into the cattle buying and shipping business. He has held several village offices, and was chief of the fire department and village marshal, which offices he held creditably up to the time of his demise. Mr. Biebel was very active in community affairs and gave freely of his time toward every civic and patriotic event promoted in this community. He was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Paul's church and of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. The flag was flown at half mast from the village hall staff from Sunday until after the funeral, and local business houses suspended business and remained closed during the funeral. The funeral was held from St. Paul's Catholic church on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. A. L. Buytaert officiating. Internment was at St. Paul's cemetery. There was a profusion of spiritual and floral bouquets. The pallbearers were Nick Remmel, John Vande Voort, Wm. Brochtrup, Frank Ehnerd, Neil Verbeten and John Nelessen. The esteem in which the deceased was held is best attested to by the large concourse of friends and relatives who accompanied the remains to their last resting place.

Note: Year of birth as 1883 on memorial monument is incorrect.
