William Behrends
Monticello - Funeral services for William Gearhart Behrends, 83, were held Tuesday at Peace United Church of Christ. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Wilson Finery officiated.

Mr. Behrends died Saturday evening after a fall at his home.

He was born at Bowen's Prairie Feb 13, 1888, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Zimmerman Behrends.

He was married to Gebena M Paulsen at Monticello in December 1913. They farmed until moving to town in 1950.

Survivors include his wife; six children, Richard W of West bend, Wisconsin, Mrs. Clark (Mildred) Meyer of Aurora, Mrs. Edward (Loretta) Breitbach and Mrs. Clarence (Hazel)
Breitbach of Cascade, Mrs. carl (Helen) Schegal of West Bend, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Vince (Wilma) Haag of Monticello.

Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John Gerdes of Muscatine; and a brother Alva of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Casket bearers were Ray Peters, carl Behrends, Gilbert Paulsen, Melvin Husman, Lewis Burrichter and Roger Zumbach.
