Frances Dawes Webb, age 86, went home to heaven on Monday, July 28, 2014. Born in Elm City on September 4, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Ethna Dawes and Estelle Batchelor Dawes. She was also preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Webb. Frances was one of eleven children. She has been a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Raleigh since 1966. Frances' career was in communications with Southern Bell and AT&T most of her life. Her passion was to sing in her church choir and she especially enjoyed her granddaughters, attending every graduation and dance recital of theirs. She leaves behind a daughter, Jeanie Martinez-Jantz of Alexandria, VA; son, Phillip Freedman of Matthews, VA; and granddaughters, Alexandra and Melissa. She will also be remembered by her four brothers, Charles, Uri, Ray and Fred Dawes; and one sister, Lillian Joyner. A funeral service to remember Frances will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, July 31, 2014 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church with Fr. George Greer officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mill Branch Cemetery. A reception will follow services @ Elm City Assisted Living, 416 North Parker Street, Elm City, NC. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the American Heart Association, Post Office Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
