Horace Melvin Grimes
Horace Melvin "Seed" Grimes age 68, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014. Services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, July 30, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Grimes was a native and life long resident of Milledgeville and was a graduate of Baldwin County High School. He worked at CSX Railroad and the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was preceded in death by his parents Horace and Edythe Taylor Grimes, a brother Bruce Grimes and a son Terry Lee Grimes. He was a veteran of the United States Marines serving in Vietnam. He loved fishing, gardening and feeding the birds. But one of his favorite things was watching the Georgia Bulldogs and spending time with his three companions, Ira, Bo, and Ugalug.
Survivors include two sons, Scotty Grimes of Gordon and Jonathan Grimes (Jennifer) of Canton, a daughter Libby Grimes Garrett (Kyle) of Cumming, two brothers, Keith Grimes and Bobby Grimes, a sister Marie Schneider (Bob) all of Milledgeville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home.
