Former Livingston County District Attorney Scott W. Crane Sr. of 7 Circle Rd. died Monday (June 18, 1979) in Noyes Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was 68.

Born in Livonia, he had resided in Dansville for the past 42 years. A graduate of the University of Buffalo Law School in 1937, he was a practicing attorney in Livingston County from 1937 to 1951. He served with the U.S. Navy as an intelligence officer in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1946.

In 1951, he was appointed by Governor Thomas E. Dewey as district attorney of Livingston County serving in that capacity until illness forced his retirement in 1970. Crane was a charter member of the Dansville Lions Club. He was also a former member of the Dansville Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Isabelle Zornow Crane to whom he was married for the past 42 years; a son, Scott W. Crane Jr. of Dover, Ohio; a daughter, Carol Crane White of Buffalo; a grandson, Scott W. Crane III; a brother, Irving of Rochester and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie Roberts of Grouse Point, Mich.

A service will be conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Chamberlin Funeral Home with the Rev. William Leety officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. (Genesee County Express, June 21, 1979, p8)
